Heritage Village Excursion

The old Kalapa School

On Tuesday the 3rd of September we went to the Heritage Village. It has a lot of exciting olden day buildings, cars and machinery.

We visited 'The Rose Wood Hut' which was furnished with beds covered in lace, bucket showers, an outside kitchen and other old things.

We also saw lots of different woodworks. Woodworks is what we call how the men used to cut wood and shape it just by using axes and saws.

There was also and old church, Arnolds Sweet Shop and we went inside the old Kalapa School. It was filled with old wooden desks with ink pot holders, chalk boards and old pictures.

Throughout the time we were there we travelled around on the Heritage Village Tram pulled by a tractor and old style motor vehicles.

We got to look inside the old fire station and climb on the firetrucks and saw the different firemen uniforms from the past.

The Heritage village is a great learning and fun experience.
